Drug Uses
Flexeril is a muscle relaxant that treats pain and stiffness of muscle injuries, including muscle spasms, sprains, strains. Cyclobenzaprine is the active ingredient.
How Taken
Flexeril is produces in 10 mg tablets, and the normal adult dose is one 10 mg tablet taken three times a day. You should not use more than 60 mg of Flexeril per day. If you have an upset stomach, it better to take the tablets together with food. Its important to take Flexeril as directed. You should not increase your dose or take it more frequently than prescribed.
Warnings/Precautions
Flexeril may not be appropriate for all patients. You should inform your doctor about any past health conditions or any problems that you are treating now. Following your doctor’s instructions will prevent you from possible side effects. It is also possible that you may not be able to use this drug. Warn you doctor in case you have the following problems: difficulty urinating or any allergies, glaucoma, heart disease, an overactive thyroid gland. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding .
Missed Dose
In case you have forgotten a dose, take it as soon as you notice. If it is too close to the next one, ignore the missed one and resume your usual dose schedule.
Possible Side Effects
During the first few days of the treatment, your body is still adjusting to the new drug, so there might appear certain symptoms such as dizziness or drowsiness, upset stomach, constipation, heartburn, headache or dry mouth. Inform your doctor if any of these conditions deepen or become persistent. Awarm your physician if you notice the following symptoms: skin rash, muscle stiffness, rapid heart rate, itching, difficulty urinating, swelling of the face. Be careful not to rise rapidly from a sitting or lying position, as there may occur dizziness or lightheadedness. Be cautious when using the stairs and change positions slowly.
Storage
Keep at 25°C (77°F); do not store bellow or above 15-30°C (59-86°F) and make sure it is placed out of reach of children.
Overdose
Possible overdose symptoms may include: racing or irregular heartbeat, unusual muscle stiffness, tiredness (extreme),difficulty breathing, extreme nervousness or restlessness, hallucination, shortness of breath, flushed skin, unstable temperature, seizure, vomiting (in combination with these other symptoms). In any of the listed cases, find instant medical help.
