Drug Uses
Penlac is an antifungal prescribed to treat onychomycosis of fingernails and toenails.
How Taken
Before you start treatment with Penlac, you should remove any loose nail or nail material using nail clippers or nail files. The usual Penlac dose is once daily (preferably at bedtime) . Apply to all affected nails with the provided applicator brush. The lacquer should be applied evenly over the entire nail surface. Wait for the lacquer to dry (approximately 30 seconds) and after that you can put on on socks or stockings. It is essential to wait for 8 hours after using Penlac and after that you can take a bath or a shower.
Warnings/Precautions
Penlac should be used only on nails and immediately adjacent skin. Keep away from the eyes and mouth.
Missed Dose
If you forget a dose, apply as soon as you realize it.
Possible Side Effects
Most common side effect reactions are rash-related. Inform your health care professional if the area of application shows signs of increased irritation ( itching, redness, burning, swelling, blistering)
Storage
Store Penlac at normal room temperature between 59° and 86° F (15° and 30° C). Make sure it is out of the reach of children.
Overdose
Overdoses are very rare. If you think you might have overdose, contact your physician.
More Information
You should not polish your nails or apply any other nail cosmetics on the treated nails. As the product is flammable, do not use it near heat or open fire.
